Help, My Trees are Starving from a Drought!
We feel your pain. Caring for trees during a drought is a very tough thing to do. Below are the steps our arborists take toward decreasing drought and promoting healthy care.
Mulching: We will add all natural wood mulch to trees that don’t have it or make sure trees that do have it contain the appropriate amount.
Soil: Most people ask when or how much they should water a tree? Well a good rule of thumb is to check within the soil. We will use a small shovel to go 6 to 8 inches beneath the surface drip line to check the consistency. If it feels dry then we’ll add water, if it feels too wet then we’ll hold off.
In cases of drought, we would say water and nutrients are your tree’s best friends. We’ll apply generous amounts and monitor the intake for weeks to come.
